Light Life Retreat

Welcome Meeting on Sunday, May 16 following the 10:15am Mass in the Parish Hall

Dino and Cathy Durando will present a brief presentation on the Domestic Church Movement (history, activities and the 7 Commitments) and facilitate a conversation about the Retreat, Circle Formation participation and anything else you want to know about this wonderful support for families.  No RSVP is required to attend the Welcome Meeting; come if you are able!

The Married Couples Retreat is an introduction to the Domestic Church Movement which is an opportunity for married couples and their families to take advantage of a simple, beautiful gift of formation, support, and true, organic growth in love and faith within the Sacrament of Marriage.  Couples who attend the retreat may join a monthly small group where they will receive support and formation to live out the 7 Commitments of the Domestic Church Movement, a set of simple and ordinary actions – lived in the family and home – developed by the founder, Servant of God, Fr. Blachnicki, under the direction of Archbishop Karol Wotyla (before he became Pope St. John Paul II).  The beauty of these commitments is that they aren’t specific prayers, Bible passages, or structures.  Rather, they are principles that couples commit to live in their ordinary family life; things like praying daily as individuals, as a couple, and with their family.  The movement provides formation, using the Church’s spiritual tradition and official teachings, for how to pray, how to use Scripture in prayer, and how to grow in our relationship with God, our spouses, and our children.  The decisions about specific ways to do this are up to the family because they are a domestic church.  Learn more at www.kcsjfamily.org/light-life or call Dino and Cathy Durando 816-888-0259.

St. Patrick Parish will be hosting a 2-Day Retreat for married couples on Saturday, June 12th (9:30am-8pm) and Sunday, June 13th (11:30am-4:30pm).  This retreat is first and foremost a chance to encounter Christ together as a married couple and to enrich your spiritual life together.  It is also an introduction to the Domestic Church movement which provides ongoing support and formation for married couples.  The opportunity to participate in this ongoing formation will be discussed during the retreat.

This has been such a great benefit to our marriage in the last 2 years since we began to meet in a Circle group and grow in our practice of the 7 Promises.  We have grown in our prayer life together, learned how to communicate better, and are closer to each other than ever before.  We have also formed some great new friendships through this movement.” -Dino and Cathy Durando
